Forgiven
July 05, 2018
Forgiven is a beautiful word and a blessed reality. In Psalm 32 David is describing how happy and fulfilled he is because his rebellion has been forgiven and his sins have been covered by blood. He is now blessed and relieved because he confessed his corruption to God. For God wiped his slate clean and removed hypocrisy from his heart.
Before he confessed his sins, he kept it all inside; his dishonesty devastated his inner life, causing his life to be filled with frustration. The pain never let up, for God's hand of conviction was heavy on his heart. His strength was sapped, his inner life dried up like a spiritual drought within his soul.
When he finally admitted all his sins to God, refusing to hide them any longer. He said: "My God, I will openly acknowledge my evil action." And God forgave him! All at once the guilt of his sin washed away and all his pain disappeared.
I can make David's words my own. I have had the same experience. I have been under heavy conviction of sin. Before I confessed my sins, my inner life dried up. But what a joy and relief to be forgiven! Hallelujah! I am forgiven. God is merciful and wonderful.
All believers should confess their sins to God. Do it every time God has uncovered you in the time of exposing. For when you do this, when sudden storms of life overwhelm, you will be kept safe. Confess and acknowledge how you have sinned and offended one another and then pray for one another to be instantly healed. Forgiveness always brings healing to a hurting soul. Tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of humble believers confessing their sins and shortcomings to one another.
